Domesday Book for Essex

Domesday Book, A Survey Of The Counties Of England, Essex
(ISBN 0 85033 483 7 published 1983)

Ansketel seems to hold land in Orsett, Little Thurrock (...from the Bishop which Wulfwin, a free man, held under King Edward...), Thurrock (...from the Bishop, which Manning, a free man held before 1066...).

This trend continues...Ramsden, Great Whitmans, Chignall, Messing, Grays Thurrock, Borley although Boreham seems to have been passed on.

Not so prosperous for Ketel though..."Thorold holds Frating from Ranulf, which Ketel held as a manor for 2 hides".
